The Society of Thoracic Surgeons’ Star Rating System is one of the most sophisticated and popular comprehensive measures of health care quality, evaluating the comparative outcome of cardiothoracic surgery programs in the United States and Canada. .
Historically, 6% to 10% of participants receive a three-star rating for isolated coronary artery bypass graft surgery. The latest data analysis for coronary artery bypass graft surgery covers a three-year period from July 2018 to June 2021 and includes nearly 1,000 participating cardiovascular surgery programs.
