Could the Super Bowl-champion Los Angeles Rams’ next big game be to move their training facility and headquarters from the Conejo Valley?
A newspaper reports that negotiations are underway to move the team’s facilities to the San Fernando Valley.
The Rams conducted their in-season training at a temporary facility opened on the campus of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks in 2016.
Now, the Los Angeles Times reports that the team is in negotiations to buy the former Promenade mall on Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Woodland Hills. The mall has a movie theater and a few restaurants, but most of the larger stores that used to be on the site closed years ago.
Newspaper accounts indicate that the team would also move its headquarters from Agoura Hills to the new 30+ acre site.
According to the Times, the Rams and mall owners are not commenting on reports that negotiations are underway.
Cal Lutheran’s facility was always intended to be temporary, with portable buildings making up the complex on the university’s North Campus. However, the city of Thousand Oaks had hoped to find a permanent site to keep the team in the community.
